Scouts and Teachers in Community Action
Through their participation, BCNHS–JHS Scouts and volunteer teachers contributed to the community's effort to remove litter and maintain the cleanliness of the coastal surroundings.
The activity also provided an opportunity for learners to practice responsibility, teamwork, and service beyond the classroom.
Working alongside community volunteers demonstrated how collective action can support local environmental conservation efforts.
Promoting Cleaner Coastal Communities
The clean-up drive aimed to raise environmental awareness and encourage collective responsibility in maintaining the cleanliness of Abucay's coastal areas.
Coastal clean-up activities are important because improperly discarded waste can pollute waterways, affect marine life, and diminish the quality of coastal environments.
Through community participation, volunteers were encouraged to recognize the importance of proper waste disposal, environmental responsibility, and protecting natural resources.
Strengthening Environmental Stewardship
Beyond the immediate clean-up activity, the initiative emphasized the importance of sustained community involvement in protecting coastal resources.
It also reinforced the role of young volunteers in promoting environmental awareness and encouraging responsible practices within their communities.
By participating in initiatives such as this, learners gain opportunities to develop a sense of civic duty and contribute to community development through service.
The participation of BCNHS–JHS Scouts and volunteer teachers in the National Coastal Clean-Up Drive reflects the value of cooperation between schools, youth organizations, and the local community.
Through collective efforts, communities can continue working toward cleaner, safer, and more sustainable coastal environments.
