Brief History of Bonifacio Camacho National High School

A public secondary school in Barangay Calaylayan, Abucay, Bataan, committed to accessible, quality, and values-oriented education.

School Beginnings

Bonifacio Camacho National High School (BCNHS) is a public secondary school located in Barangay Calaylayan, Abucay, Bataan. The school was established to provide accessible and quality secondary education to the youth of Abucay and nearby communities, particularly those living in the municipality's rural and upland areas.

Over the years, BCNHS grew into one of the important educational institutions in the town, serving junior high school learners and, for a time, senior high school learners. On August 16, 2024, the Senior High School became stand-alone, marking an important milestone in the continuing development of secondary education services in the community.

Namesake

Bonifacio Baluyot Camacho

The school was named in honor of Bonifacio Baluyot Camacho, a native of Calaylayan, Abucay, who served as the 11th Congressman of Bataan from 1946 to 1949. During his term, Camacho supported educational development in the province by helping fund school buildings and educational facilities.

In recognition of his public service and contributions to education, a public high school in his hometown was later named after him.

Growth and Development

Through the years, BCNHS has continued to expand its facilities and academic programs to respond to the needs of its learners and the growing school community. The school has received support from government agencies, local officials, and community partners in improving educational services and student welfare.

1946–1949

Public Service of Bonifacio Baluyot Camacho

Bonifacio Baluyot Camacho served as the 11th Congressman of Bataan and supported educational development through assistance for school buildings and facilities.

2019

Construction of Additional Classrooms

A two-story, twelve-classroom school building funded through the Department of Education's Basic Educational Facilities Fund was constructed to accommodate the growing student population.

August 16, 2024

Senior High School Became Stand-Alone

The Senior High School became stand-alone, signifying a major transition in the school’s institutional development and in the delivery of secondary education services in the community.
